Today, we were not ready to wake up—the fatigue caught up to the group, making it a slow morning. After breakfast, we went straight to the worksite to continue the project. We split into three groups to progress efficiently. One group filled the trench for the piping system; another group sanded and cleaned the interior of the new building. During our morning break, we tried a fruit native to Peru, where one cracks the fruit on their head to open it. The inside looked like tadpoles, but it tasted sweet. We worked until lunchtime, and after lunch, one group shoveled dirt, while the others mixed cement. The leaders set up an opportunity for the group to see the process of weaving traditional garbs. Afterwards, many Putneyers participated in a soccer game against locals, in which we lost (5–2). To end the night we, ate dinner, celebrated Dan’s birthday, and played games around the campfire. We look forward to another great day tomorrow!
